Locarno – the pearl of Switzerland
The city of Locarno is the warmest place in the whole Switzerland, located on the northern shore of the amazing Lago Maggiore in southern Tessin. The city has mild Mediterranean climate with the southern vegetation, i.e. palms and lemon trees. Locarno is one of the most attractive locations in Switzerland, visited by many tourists from the whole world.
The city fascinates its guests with ist cultural life and appealing shopping facilities. The old town with its famous Piazza Grande and medieval alleys is filled with the typical Italian flair. Here you can feel the real vitality and hear all the world languages. Every Thursday many people gather here for the weekly market.
The world famous open-air concerts and festivals take place at the Piazza Grande. The most spectacular are “Moon & Stars” in July and Locarno film festival in August.
